Valley Park, Missouri

At Valley Park, Missouri on this day, January 26th, 68 years ago, Mother Mary Joseph Rogers shared this kernel of wisdom with the novitiates:

“We should always be open-minded and ready to listen to the other person’s reasons for doing a thing in a different way from which we do it. It is the pig-headedness and stubborness which many of us have naturally which make for a great deal of confusion and sometimes discord[…]. Some people think it is strong-minded to stick to their own viewpoint. Sometimes it is, but at least you can listen with an open mind, and if there is something that is better than what you have been doing, have the graciousness to adopt it. To know how to yield, is one of the little courtesies of life.”
