Welcome to the Maryknoll Mission Archives.  Our goal is to make your research experience, whether on- or off- site, as efficient and pleasant as possible.  We know that your time is valuable, and with some preparation, we can assist you in making the most of your experience with us. On this site we’ve provided tools to assist you with your work including an overview of select collections and access to more detailed descriptions of open collections through our collection management system.  We hope that these resources and our dedicated, helpful staff will make your work more productive and meaningful.  We look forward to helping you with your research.

Research Application

Planning a visit to the Archives begins with the research application process. We ask that you read the documents listed below. Please submit a completed research application with any supporting documentation (where relevant) and a current curriculum vitae via email at archives@maryknoll.org or US mail at Maryknoll Mission Archives, PO Box 305, Maryknoll, NY 10545-0305.

All requests of this nature must be approved by Archives staff prior to the start of research.

Please note that Maryknoll Mission Archives is unable to make change. If you expect to request copies of research materials during your visit, we suggest you bring a check or small bills and quarters to pay for your copies.

Please note that our rules are designed to protect the physical and intellectual property rights of our donors.

Remote Research

Please submit your questions by email to our department address, archives@maryknoll.org or by phone at 914-941-7363 ext. 2500.

If your question cannot be answered within a reasonable amount of time or requires extensive research, we suggest that you schedule a visit or engage an independent researcher who can visit the Archives.


The Archives is located in the Seminary Building (also known as the Center Building) on the campus of the Maryknoll Fathers and Brothers’ headquarters in Maryknoll, NY. The street address is 55 Ryder Road, Maryknoll, NY 10545. Please visit the Society’s web page for driving directions.

Parking is available onsite.

The Archives is also accessible via the Metro North rail system’s Hudson Line between Poughkeepsie and New York’s Grand Central Station.  Station stops in Ossining and Croton Harmon are closest for accessing Maryknoll.  Once at the station you will need to obtain public transportation to get to Maryknoll (local taxi services or ride sharing companies such as Uber).


Researchers planning to spend multiple days at the Archives may require local accommodations. On-site accommodations are not available and researchers are expected to arrange their own lodgings.
