Father John C. Troesch died shortly after 6:00 a. m. this morning.
Father Troesch was born on October 26, 1897 and after graduating from the parish school of Sts. Peter and Paul in Springfield, Illinois and spending two years in the local High School, he worked in a local business office for six years before he was enrolled at the Venard in 1922. As a deacon he worked in the office of the Seminary Econome and although sent to Honolulu after ordination in 1932, was recalled to the Center in 1935 as Assistant Procurator. Father Troesch successively replaced the Procurators in Hong Kong, Manila and Shanghai during the absence of the regular men from 1937 to 1945, when he was again assigned to the Center. He was named Chaplain to the Novitiate of the Sisters of Our Lady of Providence in Chappaqua where he attended to their spiritual needs from 1958 to 1967 and then went into semi-retirement at Glen Ellyn. When Glen Ellyn was closed in 1973 he moved to St. Teresa’s where he lived until his death.
The wake was held in the Seminary Chapel on Tuesday, December 5 at 7:30 p. m. and the Requiem Mass was celebrated in the same Chapel on Wednesday the 6th at 11:30 a. m. Father Allan Dennis was the Principal Celebrant and Father George Buckley the Homilist.
