Welcome to the Maryknoll Mission Archives blog!
Let us begin by introducing ourselves…
The Maryknoll Mission Archives stores the history of the Maryknoll Fathers and Brothers, the Maryknoll Sisters and the Maryknoll Lay Missioners. Founded in 1990 as a cooperative initiative between the Society and Congregation, the Archives expanded its scope in 2001 to include the Lay Missioners. A mix of diaries, letters, artwork, artifacts, images, audio recordings, books, films and videos created by Maryknoll missioners over the course of their work fill our shelves. They hold 20th century Catholic mission stories from Africa, Asia, Latin America and the United States just waiting to be shared. Our intention for this blog is to highlight some of those stories that we hope will engage, intrigue, entertain and perhaps even inspire you.
Mother Mary Joseph Rogers, foundress of the Marynoll Sisters, sums up Maryknoll’s history as the organization’s “sweetest and dearest treasure because it is peculiarly our own.”
We couldn’t agree more.
